Coffee with Claire #13 – Commonly Asked Questions Blog Series
April 4, 2018
Why Should I take a Parenting Class?Writer’s note: This blog series is meant to act as responses to “quick” questions you may have for attorneys. Think of these answers as a “quick” answer you might receive over coffee from your friendly neighborhood attorney.
The first reason is because you have to. A parenting class is mandated for everyone going through a divorce or custody proceeding. See Minn. Stat. §518.157.
The second reason is the class will make you a better co-parent. This is not a how-to-parent class. It’s a how-to-CO-PARENT class. There’s a difference. Come to class and find out.
Parenting classes (or at least the Parents Forever classes) are taught by knowledge people in the family law field (family law attorneys, mediators, parent coaches, etc.). These professionals work with families going through this transition all the time. They’ve seen about everything there is - they can and will help you with the resources or information you need. To read more about the class, click HERE.
